It is a well earned gesture to congratulate China on being choosen by the IOC commission to organize the Olympic Games 2008. The nation now can show off and the whole world can see what she is able to. And since everything seems to develop well in Beijing, we can hardly wait to see the athletes' performences in their branch of sport. These Games will be the ultimate show on earth and everybody in all five continents on earth likes to be on time - day after day - to be present at the start of each individual game.
But since day and night wander over the earth's globe, in China it's daytime when on the other half of the planet people are asleep because it is night. Therefor the usual clock knows timezones, each reproducing its own local time. Though the problem of day and night cannot and need not be solved, we can give ourselves a hand by using only one time indication world wide. Now we come to the point where the GaTS world time standard is going to do the job. This standard equalizes time in all timezones, so worldwide the same time is shown. In this way, so, now in Beijing it's the same time as in New York, Beijing or Amsterdam.
But this is exactly the 'at:' time in your own part of the world, too. Wherever you are.
Prepare yourself and add the next short script to your page(s) to add a small but clear digital GaTS standerd clock:
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.uni-versum.nl/gats/worldclock.js"></script> and always know which time it is anywhere as well as in China, whatever day time or night time. That's what the GatS time standard can do for you. Even more, for in the right hand collom we explane clearly to you that GaTS has something more to offer. And every new development offers new and handy posibilities. Yes, GaTS is great. In the meantime be welcome to experience the overwhelming charismatic and near to sexy Olympic Games 2008 on time wherever you live on earth.

To avoid disapointments it is good to know on what times it is possible to communicate with Chinese (business) offices. It is expected the 2008 Games will take place on these same opening times. So we here write down a small form to give you an idea what these (Chinese nine to five) times are:
offices
open on: 39at: o'clock
and
close on: 63at: o'clock
Of course this is roughly for some companies open and close on other times or work around the clock, 24/7. For a table showing an overview of the daylight times or business hours in some main cities in the world you might look here.
The GaTS standard provides in a time indication that shows wether it is closing or opening time of Beijing's economy and forms an indication for daily life in China. One almost automatically notices that it is day-light time in this town or not. Watch this clock:
If you like to practice this clock with another country in mind try out if there is one by replacing 'beijing' by the most principal country's town(s) of your choise, f.i. 'amsterdam' (the Netherlands) or 'paris' (France), etc. But always write the town's name in English. And take into account that more names cities (New York, Los Angeles) are written as one name (newyork, losangeles). Some cities not only show wether or not it is in the day-light or day-light off time, but also note between brackets the next at: WT time, so you know how lang to wait. And do you like to know when the NYSE is going to open, just typ (cwt_clock_)'nyse.js' in stead of a cities name and it appears.
You are free to add more than one of the current seventy available clocks to your page(s). Within short more will be published, also with the EURO2008 football (soccer) in mind. This is one of GaTS's time services. Enjoy the great Games in Beijing.
